The Hoover Law Group, in the case of the State of Oregon vs. E.L., and the related immigration matter of In Re:  E.L., was successful in obtaining a reversal of a drug conviction, having it dismissed and expunged.  E.L., a British national but a permanent resident in the United States, was wrongfully convicted of a drug possession charge in Oregon state.  As a result, the federal government attempted to deport E.L. from the United States.  Due to a claim of ineffective assistance of counsel of her previous attorney,  and citing the U.S. Supreme Court case of Kentucky vs. Padilla,  the Hoover Law Group was very effective in having the charges reversed, dismissed, and expunged.  The result of the state case, was for the federal deportation case to immediately be dismissed.  E.L., as a result, automatically qualified to become a U.S. citizen.
